Moove In Self Storage was founded in 1998 by the Gilliland family, who are originally from Warriors Mark, PA. Yes, there are supposed to be two Os in Moove! The story behind the name all started on the farm.
After working for a couple of local PA real estate companies, his entrepreneurial spirit was bursting within him and he decided to strike out on his own in the niche market of self storage.
John G., Karen and John H. sat around the family dinner table working on the business plan for the new venture. When the topic of a name came up, John H. said, “Well, we are moving out of the dairy business and moving into the storage business, maybe we should call it Moove In Self Storage!” And thus, the name was born.
We expanded into Maryland in 2014 and New Jersey in 2016. Then added stores in Mifflin County, Montgomery County and Berks County, PA as well as our first store in New York in 2018. We then added two stores in Connecticut and five stores in Massachusetts in 2019. In 2020, we added another location in New Jersey. Currently, Moove In Self Storage has 34 locations in Pennsylvania, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut and Massachusetts with more under development.
Our prototype storage properties feature offices with gambrel roofs like a barn, complete with cow weather vanes. Inside, we utilize steel sheeting for the counters, barn lights and lots of cow spots on everything we do. We love to use the cow theme in all our branding and marketing. Check out our cow spotted trucks at many locations! It reminds all our staff of our farming heritage — where the values of hard work, trustworthiness, treating people right, and providing a great product at a great value come naturally.
Our company core values include:
- Do the right thing.
- Being enthusiastic, engaged and competitive.
- Work hard. Work smart.
- Have fun.
- Be compassionate and authentic.
Thank you to all of our customers who have made Moove In Self Storage the premier self storage provider throughout central Pennsylvania, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut and Massachusetts.
