Leg Up Farm Fall Fest a Success!

Leg Up Farm Fall Fest
We attended the Leg Up Farm Fall Fest on Saturday, October 18th this year, and it was a blast! Our North George Street facility partners with Leg Up Farm by providing a storage unit to them at no charge, because we fully believe in our community and their mission to help children with special needs and disabilities. If you are not familiar with Leg Up Farm, be sure to check out their website and see all the great things they are doing for local children, and even adults. They are located in Mount Wolf, just north of Manchester.

Besides the very windy conditions, the weather cooperated throughout the day which meant a great turnout from the community. The sun was shining, the rain held off during the event and temperatures were somewhere in the 60s. It was very pleasant in the sunshine, but could be quite brisk when standing in the shade. Many kids were walking around in shorts (and some adults), trying to hang on to summer just a bit longer.

Plenty of food trucks were there, providing visitors with some very delicious choices – everything from pizza, pulled pork and french fries to hard pretzels, cotton candy and Italian ice. I, along with our property manager, Suzi Conner, had a very yummy BBQ pulled pork sandwich from Spectrum Fine Catering & Concessions. Not only that, but the local 4H Club was holding a bake sale inside the riding arena are, offering up goodies like cookies and rice krispie treats for donations. There were also around 35 craft vendors at the event, selling all sorts of interesting items. A Silent Auction also took place, and the winning bidders were announced in the afternoon.

There was plenty to do in the children’s game area, such as giant Jenga, a Lego table with plenty of Legos to go around (by far the busiest station all day), bag toss and several others. Just behind the game area is where the pond is location. Kids could go down and feed the giant Koi, which I am sure made the fish and the kids both happy. There had to be hundreds of fish in there!

Moove In Self Storage was set up in the game area, which was very appropriate. We had a coloring contest for the kids, where they could color in our cow mascot. This was a huge hit and we have so many great ones from kids of all ages. We also had a memory game just for fun. And, we were taking free photos with our cow mascot as well. Everyone loved her and we have plenty of photos to show how excited kids were to get their photo taken with her. Everyone who stopped at our table, colored our cow mascot, played our memory game or had his or her photo taken with our mascot received a Moove In tote bag full of goodies – a pen, a fun pin, a sticker, a magnet and a cow tail or two! We gave away at least 200 goodie bags, which was fantastic! The game area was busy throughout the event and provided fun times for all the children.
