Don’t Underestimate the Benefits of Using Furniture and Mattress Covers when You Pack, Move and Store Your Belongings.

Packing and moving can be stressful and tedious. So much so, that you can easily overlook a lot of simple things. One of those is protective covers for your furniture and mattresses. Most people just grab an old blanket or sheet to help with the moving process, thinking they will add a layer of protection. However, using covers that are specifically designed for your furniture and mattresses is the smarter idea and will provide better protection from damage.

Because our covers are designed and sized for a specific item, they will be large enough to completely cover your oversized sofa or king mattress set with ease. When using blankets and sheets, you need to layer them, pin them or try and tape them together to cover the entire surface of your large items. Then you are left with the blanket falling off, the pins popping and the tape giving way while you are carrying the sofa down the stairs or driving down the highway at 60 MPH. That leaves your furniture unprotected and open for damage. Did you know that one of the leading reasons people need to buy a new mattress set is because it gets damaged during the moving process? When placing your items in storage, it’s often for an extended period of time – several weeks or months and sometimes for years. Will your furniture be properly protected over time? MATTRESS COVERS

You can purchase twin, full, queen and king sizes. Most king mattress sets use split box frames consisting of two pieces. When this is the case, you would purchase one king mattress cover and two twin mattress covers to cover all three pieces.

SOFA COVERS

Perfect for sofas, love seats or ottomans. They also work well to cover large bulky items such as triple dressers and rolled carpets or rugs.

CHAIR COVERS

These are designed to protect a wide array of chair sizes and styles. In addition to the chair that goes with your living room set, these covers can be used for dining room, office and patio chairs as well.

DUST COVERS

You can use these to drape over the top of all the items inside your storage unit. This will help prevent dust from settling on the items and getting into the nooks and crannies, which are hard to clean. Since these simply lay over the top of your belongings to catch the dust, air can still circulate properly inside the unit.

Dust covers are a heavier grade plastic than furniture covers. They are thick enough to be used for drop cloths during the moving process to protect carpet and hardwood floors from scuffs and scratches and all the dirt brought in on your shoes. They also make a great protective cover when you are unlucky enough to have it rain on moving day.

STRETCH WRAP

Stretch wrap is the perfect product to use when wrapping furniture doors and drawers to keep them from swinging open when moving and causing damage or injury. It is also great to wrap chair legs to protect them when stacking during moving or storing. You can even wrap your CD or DVD tower rather than boxing everything up just to unpack it again – provided it’s small enough and not super heavy when kept in-tact. The last thing you want to do is wrap that 300 disc tower and end up hurting yourself when trying to lift it.

Also use stretch wrap to keep pieces of furniture together when disassembled for moving. It adds protection and organization with little risk of losing small pieces during the moving process, and also avoids the use of baggies and tape to keep it all together.

You can even use stretch wrap to stabilize stacks of boxes inside your storage unit – just wrap around them a few times to keep them together and from tipping over.

Using stretch wrap in this manner is quick and economical and requires no tape. Because no tape is necessary, there’s no risk of damaging the surface of your furniture and no need to clean off tape residue.

The last thing you want to discover after a long and stressful moving day is that you tore a hole in your mattress or scratched your expensive leather sofa. Be sure to prevent these unnecessary headaches by using protective covers when you pack, move and store your belongings.
